We are giddy about the opening audio quote on this recap from an anonymous attendee at the DJ Car Stereo (Wars) CD release for Explains it All!
“I love Car Stereo Wars. I listen to about everything and I really love how everything is mixes together. The mashup is what it’s about. It’s the new style of music. It’s kind of like listening to a really good mixtape.”
Too kind! Too kind! We owe that relic of the evening to the hard-working folks over at 512 Unscripted! You may have remembered that they were kind enough to come out to our last release party we hosted in February for Neiliyo!
Download a copy of the new record now for free and if you feel so inclined we would GREATLY appreciate a donation to help things keep running smoothly. Also- if you simply pay for SHIPPING AND HANDLING you can get a FREE copy of the actual physical CD which is hand (puff) painted and totally bodacious. Pick your poison HERE! Thanks for the support!
Welcome to ArtifactWorkshop.com! Make yourself at home and sit a spell, whydontcha? Artifact Workshop and Neiliyo were recently prominently featured on a cool web show called 512 UnScripted! Check it out below.
Each week the two ladies bring you all sorts of footage of the happenings in Austin music, art, fashion, food, movies and more from a fresh, uncensored perspective. Megan was a pleasure to work with and we are thrilled with the exposure on the interwebs! Find out more about 512 Unscripted at their online home base (still under construction…) HERE and watch them online over at SMTX.TV!
The time is right. The leaves are falling. Shorts are starting to be warn. Yes, it’s spring in Austin. On February 27th 2010 we hosted the release party for Neiliyo’s Game Night at Club DeVille and as if photographic evidence wasn’t enough to prove that it was an insane blast- now we have video. Behold:
The entire EP came as a digital download on a slap bracelet the night of the show and we still have a FEW that we’ll be passing out here and there at the SXSW music festival but if you don’t want to risk running into us in a free beer line, head over to iTunes and pick it up! It is less than 5 dollars and provides a milli in listening value.
Huge thanks to Leah Ross for her work on the video!
We sat on this for a while waiting for just the right time to reveal it and now, here we are! In the middle of an NBC civil war, this recap video of CUSTODIAN’s Ultra-Fresh reminds us of a simpler time: a time of dancing and horse masks. Have I said too much? Just watch the video and learn:
As you can see in the video, Ultra-Fresh comes packaged in a janitorial soapbox. If you act fast you can order yours and get a free limited edition T Shirt along with your soapbox. We will contact you after you place your order about your preferred size…

So, this I admittedly old news, but we wanted to share some great press from Fun Fun Fun Fest regarding the DJ Car Stereo (Wars) set with Neiliyo acting as MC. Austin Sound had some nice things to say:
“Oh Chris Rose, how we’ve missed you down here in Austin since you decided to take off for the NYC. Our little burg just hasn’t rocked the dancefloors quite as hard after you left. So needless to say, having Car Stereo (Wars) mixup maelstrom sweep back into town was a welcome event, and his samples, as always, were heavy on the familiar hits expertly spun to send the crowd into maximum frenzy. The stage was packed with familiar Car Stereo (Wars) fans, though nothing quite as crazy as last year’s costumed turned. Rose was aided, however, by local MC Neiliyo, reppin’ it preppy on the mic despite the rain picking up harder and harder throughout the set. Till next time CS(W)!”
Thanks for the “shout out” Austin Sound! Click HERE for Austin Sound’s pictures from the fest!
“Have a holly jolly Thursday over at the inside stage of Emo’s as you sweat thru your most terribly ironic Christmas sweater with DJ Car Stereo (Wars) and Neiliyo. Bring out the one with the bells sewn to it and that lights up when you throw the switch. If you don’t have hawt extras like that, some reindeer or a snowflake should suffice. Rest assured that the Emo’s bartenders will be rolling their eyes more than usual on Thursday and that is part of the spirit of this special time of year. Check out ‘Undone- the Sweater Song’ with a new twist to it in the youtube vid below. Take it easy bro!”
“Seeing Neiliyo in Austin these days is like being in Pittsburgh in 2002 seeing Girl Talk. He’s way ahead of his time, has an unmatched energy and is doing it harder and better than anyone in his genre. If there really is anyone in his genre.”
