JayelAudio.com seems to be digging the new DJ Car Stereo (Wars ) record!
They refer to Explains it All as “sample-crazy,” and “ready for your summer party!” It is hard to argue with that!

The smoke has finally cleared from the big DJ Car Stereo (Wars) release party and we are finally coming up for air. Everyone that came thru the door was treated to a complimentary one of a kind CD as well as LCD Soundsystem songs played live by All My Friends, a sweaty set from Neiliyo and the bangers of Hot Britches! The whole evening was made great in part by the free lager from our friends at Brooklyn Brewery, the hard work of the Beauty Bar staff and lest we forget the HUGE help in promotion we got from some of the best online resources around : Austinist, Lamebook, and DO512! Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who came out to take part in the big event with us! We hope you had as much fun as we did!
If you would like to download the album, feel free to give a donation of any amount (it ALL helps!)- OR if you would like your own unique hand puff painted physical copy of the record- all you have to do is pay for shipping and handling! The choice is yours! More information on both HERE.
UloveI was out on the town Friday night and caught a lot of the shenanigans on film. Check out all of the action HERE.

Neiliyo recently gave a candid and graphic interview with the Onion’s AV Club where he addressed the haters, his work ethic and a ton more. Read the whole thing HERE. This is highly recommended, especially if you like butter metaphors. Trust us. Here is an excerpt:
“[Laughs.] Yeah, if you have to call it something, call it “electro-fun” or “hyper-core.” It’s full-on personality. It’s like reading a blog in real time—it’s interactive music. I want to push people’s buttons and give them a new experience, and be a communicator as opposed to a musician. I’m a musical communicator. [Laughs.]”
A TON of great photos from the release show have been posted by the Peen Scene! Check them all out HERE!
Neiliyo’s Game Night is available on iTunes HERE.
Good gosh, people. Thank you all so much for the amazing energy and sportsmanship you demonstrated at Neiliyo’s Game Night last night. We are awestruck by your enthusiasm and the fun you brought.
We want to take time to thank all the people that made it happen. The staff of Club Deville was so accommodating in letting us turn their bar into a playground….a playground with free-flowing whiskey. Fizzy Dino Pop got us going with wild projections and funky sound. Team Fabrication proved they are some of the hardest working djs out there by keeping us dancing and smiling all night. Our new friends over at 512 Unscripted provided great coverage for the event. And we wouldn’t dream of throwing a shindig like this without our friend Leah Ross there to document it all. We also are excited that Jen from Peen Scene turned out to photograph the shenanigans. Stay tuned…as photos and footage start rolling in, we’ll keep you posted!
Of course, we can’t forget the man of the hour. Neiliyo brought the freaking house down. There was never a doubt that Neiliyo was the man to pull an event like this off, and he did not disappoint. People danced (and hop scotched!) their asses off, sweat poured, bottles were spun, and an evening of memories was made. We wish we could accurately describe the heart and sincerity of last night’s performance, but words wouldn’t do it justice. Neiliyo, we salute you!
The biggest thanks of all goes out to all of you that came out and got your game on. Remember to download your EP (using your secret slap-bracelet link) ASAP- the link will not work forever!
It was magical to see this idea come to life. Thank you all for your continued support.
Check out what the Austin Onion has to say about the big DJ Car Stereo (Wars) Valentine’s Day show this Saturday with SWISS (!!!!) and Til Were Blue or Destroy:
“Relationships are just so much extra baggage when you’re a pretty young thing. Better to spend Valentine’s Day with your true loves: swilling cheap booze and rubbing bony shoulders with fellow bo-hoes under the Beauty Bar disco ball. This Valentine’s, local supergroup Swiss seeks to reunite you with some old flames—specifically anoraks, Billy Corgan-fed angst, and other not-quite-forgotten gems from the ’90s like Semisonic’s “Closing Time.” Its covers could crash this hearts-and-chocolates shindig into wedding-band territory were it not for the combined talents of the musicians involved—past lineups have included members of Hum, The Poster Children, Mineral, and National Skyline. Mash-up cupid Car Stereo (Wars) trains his arrows on those and other bands that peaked before the dot-com bubble burst, while ‘Til We’re Blue Or Destroy wraps its broken heart in bright melodies and glittering synths.”
Read the whole thing HERE.
This is a GREAT show because anytime Swiss gets together from all corners of the country- it is a good time. No doubt….. which, is a band they very well might do an amazing cover of…
Here are some pictures from the last DJ CS(W) show at Beauty Bar from Infamous Austin.
Happy Valentine’s Day yall!
More from the “admittedly old news department,” but this is too good to pass up. One of the coolest blogs coming out of Austin or anywhere for that matter is Both Sides of the Mouth. The great thing about BSOTM is the extra touch they ALWAYS take in their photographs. Everything is drawn on to some degree and then scanned into a computer. Sometimes it is simple and others it is intricate. You will never see a regular .jpg that in all likely hood also appears on 30 other websites. Taking that extra touch makes the site a special place that manages to create a tactile realness that otherwise is hard to come by on this world wide web of ours. BSOTM dug the DJ Car Stereo Wars and Neiliyo set over Fun Fun Fun Fest and were kind enough to write down their thoughts and post a few pictures! Check the whole thing out HERE.
“Car Stereo (Wars)’ set definitely kept things going and even made sure to kick it up a few more notches while they were at it. Who knew you could throw such good dance parties with a Macbook? Chris Rose definitely does, and he took this to his favor when he ushered and mixed one hell of a dance party at Fun Fun Fun. With another local Austinite, Neiliyo, at his side to MC the proceedings, the blue stage turned into a veritable mudfest with not a single person ever caught in a moment of stagnance. Everyone was moving as the beats were flowing from the speakers without break. Never a moment of silence to be had, it was a nonstop dance party from start to finish and Neiliyo took to the crowd to assure everyone kept dancing. Rose from behind the crowd that had now formed on stage to stretch the dance party even further, would occasionally join the banter of Neiliyo to make sure he was providing us with just what we needed to keep our joints greased. No matter where you looked everyone was dancing, and the people responsible for all of this were lost in the crowd making sure to keep everything going – Rose hidden amidst the crowd on the stage; Neiliyo partying incognito with the crowd in the mud pit below. With the rain still coming down, it was wet and dirty – those responsible for the tunage being mixed by Rose woulda been proud.“
THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT BOTH SIDES OF THE MOUTH!
Ok, so maybe no one dumped the ashes of their dead best friend on the stage where the Laughing performed like they did for Danzig, but the fact remains that the band played a strong Fun Fun Fun Fest set full of wailing, banging, and a loud tie die shirt that both compliments the direction of their new full length album Fever as well as gives a nod to the stereotypical festival atmosphere of yore.
Austin blogger all-star Ultra 8201 was there to grab some snap shots, you can see the photo to the left and many more on the site HERE!
There was a nice interview with Chris/ DJ Car Stereo (Wars) on last week’s Austin American Statesman Blog that you can read HERE!
The Fun Fun Fun Fest set went great thanks in part to the help of Neiliyo who resumed his duties as DJ CS(W) MC after honing the craft in Chicago at Lollapolloza. The Peen Scene was there to document the muddy and sweaty fans getting down. Check out this picture and many more HERE!
There are still copies of the debut DJCS(W) album the Bandit complete with a one of a kind mustache on the cover available for purchase HERE. Impress your friends.

The Laughing opened for the Ting Tings at a sold out The Parish last Sunday the 19th. The Austin American Statesman was there and took these photos.
