It has been an exciting and busy chunk of time for Artifact Workshop the past several months. We put out a soapbox full of boom-bap with CUSTODIAN in November, a slap bracelet full of electro-fun(k) with Neiliyo in February and now we are pleased to announce our fifth overall release will be coming from DJ Car Stereo (Wars)! The AW launch party back in August of 2007 doubled as the release party for the first DJ CS(W) release the Bandit, a record that garnered attention from Absolute Punk, Gorilla Vs. Bear, StereoGum and MORE. We are currently working hard on making the next installment in the mashup artist’s discography as great as it can possibly be; more details to come but know this for now: It will be titled Explains it All, and will have an epic release party at the Beauty Bar in Austin TX April 23rd with live performances by Neiliyo, the nation’s premiere LCD Sound System tribute band All My Friends, Hot Britches, and of course DJ CS(W)! Stay tuned and mark those calendars now!

Wow. SXSW sure snuck up fast. It is here now. There is no escaping. Time to get your ‘network’ on.

The Austin based website Both Sides of the Mouth has a cool feature where they pose the question “what if you only have a short amount of time to acquaint yourself with a particular artist and need it to count?” It is appropriately called If you’ve only got. Well, the site was kind enough to pose the query- what if you only have 2 Minutes and 26 Seconds to get to know CUSTODIAN? They recommend Pop-A-Lock!

CUSTODIAN is opening up a great show presented by 101X and Knuckle Rumbler this Saturday at Emo’s. This will be the first live show for CUSTODIAN since the epic release of their debut Ultra-Fresh! Arrive early to this jam-packed with awesome local bill to witness the partytime performance art show that is CUSTODIAN. And since you’re gonna be there anyway- don’t you dare miss Zlam Dunk !

Whoo- Hoo! CUSTODIAN got some niiiiiice love from Austin’s premier dance party blog the Peen Scene. The great thing about this site is not only do they keep the town up to date on all things nightlife related, they also take a mean picture wherever they go. I heard they are in the running for an Oscar this year. Just saying…

Before Thanksgiving is too distant a memory, we want to take time to thank to everyone who came out to the CUSTODIAN EP release at Birds Barbershop. The show was a great success. As always, CUSTODIAN rocked the barbershop and brought the arty party like no one else. Leah Ross was on hand filming the E.A.S.T. happening…stay tuned for the sure-to-be-awesome recap. Old friends turned up to dance, drink, and lend a hand. We made a few new ones, some of whom started a fantastic (albeit unexpected) conga line. To all those who came out, we are truly grateful for your support! Stayed tuned for more awesomeness from Artifact Workshop and friends.
