Kind words about BOTH DJ Car Stereo (Wars) AND Neiliyo today from the fine journalists at Austinist.com:
“Mash-up maestro Chris Rose, better known as DJ Car Stereo (Wars)*, has established himself as one of the Austin’s most popular disc jockeys over the course of the last few years, and lately, he’s been making some noise nationally as well. We’ve known him to regularly furnish the soundtrack to many a shindig around town, but earlier this year, he started spinning in Brooklyn periodically, and in August, he turned in a manic set at Lollapalooza ‘09. During that Chicago performance, Rose invited fellow Austinite Neil Petty (a.k.a. Neiliyo) on stage, leading to much pandemonium and one heck of a day time dance party. The two have forged a firm friendship ever since, and this Thursday, they combine forces yet again to present a Christmas Sweater Party at Emo’s.
Up-and-comer Beef Eigler (Hot Britches) kicks things off with pulsating beats galore, Neiliyo delivers funky electro-pop in typically robust fashion next, and Rose’s exhilarating mixes round off the scheduled entertainment for the evening. Rose is currently working on a follow-up to 2007’s The Bandit, which could see the light of day by March 2010. A contribution or two from Neiliyo is expected on that upcoming DJ CS(W) release, and Petty seems to be keeping pretty busy, informing us that, “The new LP is almost done, my EP with Artifact Workshop is awaiting its final touches, and I’m about to punch out my next Mixtape, the sequel to Copywriting 101.” As for this evening’s extravaganza, Neiliyo adds, “The Christmas Sweater Party is going to be all about people coming together for a niche fashion that HAS to be exposed. No runways, no drama, just reindeer and bells, baby!” To provider further inspiration, Rose has put together this montage and a “Christmas Sweater Song” to encourage attendees to flaunt that maligned beloved garment. Enter your information in the form below for a chance to win two free tickets to the festivities.
* As of December 7th, Rose has changed his moniker from Car Stereo (Wars) to DJ Car Stereo (Wars) due to a legal dispute with an Aussie band.”
ALRIGHT! Thanks for the support Austinist!
